Was anyone else surprised that the Columbus Blue Jackets chose to take Antoine Vermette over Olli Jokinen?
Columbus's GM claimed to want a top line centreman to play along with Rick Nash and Kristian Huselius. Am I the only one that thinks Olli Jokinen would've been the better fit?
No, I wasn't surprised...
Antoine Vermette gives the Blue Jackets good secondary scoring and he will get some good ice time with Nash and Huselius.
Olli Jokinen would've looked good on the first line (Nash needed someone to get the puck to him), but they'd have to pay a heavy price...
Steve Mason has been brilliant so the Jackets really didn't need Leclaire.
I think this trade will help the Blue Jackets push for a playoff spot but I was really surprised that Antropov wasn't traded....
I actually heard a rumour like this....
TO COLUMBUS: Nik Antropov + Anton Stralman
TO TORONTO: Pascal Leclaire + 2nd rounder
Overall, Jokinen would've been an excellent fit for the Blue Jackets
