Malkin Ice Hockey
If a player throws a puck into the net (read on)?

like in a scrum in front a player tosses the puck in the net when he's down (like the Malkin play vs. LA last yr) and for some odd reason it's not reviewed and upheld who gets credit for the goal. Let me establish I know this is almost certainly impossible b/c Toronto reviews every goal but what if it happened. Would the last player to touch the puck with their stick or what?

Know it's stupid just curious. Cuz it could happen more likely in a kids ice hockey gm where ther eis no review and one missed look and bam cheap goal

I've seen about 100 goals scored in a similar fashion in junior over the years.

If the referee determines the puck was 'thrown' in it is obviously no goal, but the goal would be credited to whomever they believed actually put it in the net.

Since all NHL games have had cameras at them since the 1960s, it rarely happens there..............but it does.

One must also keep in mind, that the NHL uses several camera angles, but they don't have access to all of them

Lastly, if a player throws a puck into the net, and the ref calls it a goal............it stands.

Every goal is reviewed, the only time the war room will disallow a goal, is if they can prove beyond a doubt that the puck DID NOT enter the net.

I should clarify this
EVERY single goal is reviewed by the war room in Toronto to ensure that the puck when into the net.

The war room can call and stop the play for two reasons
1) They have conclusive proof that during continuous play, the puck crossed the goal line at some point in time and a goal should be awarded (there is no time limit on this call).

2) A goal was awarded and there is conclusive evidence that the puck did not enter the net (there is a time limit on this call).

So, if George Parros picks up the puck at his own blue line, and skates down the ice and throws it behind Evgeny Nabokov, and the Blind McGeough calls it a goal, and nobody on San Jose argues otherwise (and therefore no request for a review)................it's a goal. The war room will confirm it went in the net and leave it at that (they may shake their heads in disgust).

However, you can be sure the next day the referee, linesman, and both teams will hear about it.

However, in today's NHL with spotters high above, if there is anything in question around the net, somebody calls for a review.

With respect to the 'off the crowd netting goal' a few weeks back, the NHL's cameras are focused directly on the net, and a small area around the net. All they would have see would the puck suddenly coming into view in the net area, and crossing the line.
