New pair of roller blades?
I just ordered a pair of the Mission Soldier Black inline skates, the only problem is I will mainly be using them outside, and I am a little worried about the wear and tear of the wheels the wheels are Rink Rat Hot Shot XXX-grip, should I be worried about these wheels? And if so what wheels should I order to replace them?
Either of the recommended wheels so far will work, and they're both in about the same price range. It depends slightly on what you're doing though. Seems people have assumed it's for playing hockey, in which case, the recommendations are right.
The thing to look at is the durometer rating. The Hyper Pro 250 comes with an 82A or an 84A durometer rating (the higher the number, the harder and more durable the wheel). The Labeda Gripper comes as an 84A. I'm not that familiar with Labeda, but Hyper is a fairly respected wheel manufacturer so I think they would be the safe bet.
To put it in perspective, your wheels are a 76A. I inline speed skate, and I am typically on 85As for outdoor skating, and anything under an 83A I find I wear through way to fast. Basically, I'd say if you're using your skates for transportation, look for something in the 85A or harder range. If you're going to be playing street hockey on rough surfaces, go for an 84A, and if you're playing on smooth pavement but outside, you can probably get by with an 80-82A.
