Would you consider cheerleading and dance a sport?
For me, I think a sport is only a sport if it has competition, and it involves being active. For example, I consider baseball, soccer, football, basketball, track, and hockey, to be sports. Dance, cheerleading, chess, and ice skating I don't. If you're judged on your performance, I don't think it's a sport. I was wondering what other people thought. Do you think cheerleading and dance is a sport? What do you think makes something a sport? Thanks
Well first off, if it's in the Olympics, it's a sport! So that checks off ice skating! Chess, hell no. Dance...well I don't think that's a sport because all you're doing it moving your body. There's not really any physical contact, and it's not about who wins or not. Now, CHEERLEADING is only a sport if it's competitive. If it's just school cheer, then it doesn't even compare. Competitive cheer teams work their butts off at practices, do routines full out at least 10 times in a row, which include back tucks, flip flops, jumps, and throwing people into the air repetitively! There's no way that that much physical activity can't be counted as a sport!
