How do I work in a new ice hockey Chest Protector without playing on ice?
I recently got this new RBK Premier II Pro chest protector and it is VERY STIFF. I can move in it but it feels totally different from my old chest protector which is a Vaughn Velocity. I am still using my Vaughn and I need help to work in my RBK chest protector for next season without ice time because i play other sports over the summer.
Any suggestions?
When I broke in my hockey gloves the trick was very warm, almsot hot water and wearing them when I was shoveling snow. When you mold skates to your feet, you heat them. Some suggest putting on wet socks too and then putting the skate on. The heat, moisture, and movement are what loosen or shape them to your body. So I suggest dampening the chest protector, and heating it. If you use an oven, I suggest wrapping it in aluminum foil first. This will protect it along with heat of only like 165-180 temp. Nothing too high. Don't burn your self either, but when it's pretty warm you will want to then put it on and wear it around the house and move around as much as possible. If it's too big for the oven you have, you can jog in it like suggested, but key is warmth, water, and movement.
